BRIDGING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE , ONE LAPTOP PER CHILD
My 14 year old son is specializing in computer science at his Brooklyn High School! He gets just one half h0ur a day on the computers, while the public library affords just half hr sessions to kids. Yet they are not only expected to excel but compete on graduation with kids who have more sophisticated systems, not just at school but often there own laptops1 which is why a recent article I came across on the French Governments solution to bridging the digital divide merits attention1

In a previous article we mentioned the Musigy the online music platform as a tool for musicians during sessions.. At BFG we maintain that new media (tools and protocols) are simply tool that once understood (or at least developed to a plug and play state) will change life as we know it immeasurable. So news on new media is Brooklyn news! Imagine family celebrations shared across Continents (cities or Islands), "collaborate in real time, anytime and anywhere", simply by plugging into a computer.
Jazz @ the Speed of Light is an innovative project hosted by the 4th annual international Koktebel Jazz Festival (September 14-17, 2006). Here 's a concert where live musician on the main stage performed with other musicians in remote studios across Europe. In the video above Kenny Blues Boss Wayne is rehearsing with Leon Ptashka over the Internet with Musigy
