2008 Rooftop Films Summer Series
Rooftop Films is now accepting shorts submissions for their 2008 summer festival.  Download the PDF submission form or submit via Without a Box.  The first deadline for submission is January 5 and costs $8.  The second submission deadline is February 2 and costs $12.  The third "late" deadline is March 1 and costs $15.  For details click here

Third World Newsreel: 2008 Film and Video Production Workshop
The TWN Film and Video production workshop provides practical skills and resources for emerging film and video makers.  The workshop trains and supports people of color from low-income communities.  In addition to the regular Thursday evening meetings, participants are also required to attend the Wednesday Workshop Series (Production Workshop members do not have to pay for the Wednesday Workshop Series). The cost of the workshop is $575. Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts: Summer Fellowships
Artists and writers living in New York State are invited to apply for a month-long summer residency at the Saltonstall Arts Colony in Ithaca, New York.  The 2008 discipline categories are poetry, prose, photogaphy, and painting, sculpture, & other visual arts.  For application details cick here.

Bronx Council on the Arts: BRIO
In its nineteenth year, BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) continues to support the artistic development of individuals creating works of literary, media, performing, and visual arts.  This year marks an increase in the awards program which will provide a minimum of 25 BRIO grants of $3,000 each to individual artists residing in the Bronx at the BRIO Awards ceremony in June 2008.  For details click here.

This grant program primarily supports emerging film and video artists with preference given to projects in their early stages.  Non-student artists residing in New York City may apply.  The foundation considers requests only for projects with total budgets of $200,000 or less.
