One Sunday in Fort Greene Brooklyn 11217, a collage of a changing neighborhood

I’ve been so busy that  I’m filing this one week later but not oo late for you to cannot enjoy this sleepy neighborhood That has a life of it’s own. I lovingly refer to this area as Bogolan the name given to it by the community that built it up in the mid to late 1990’s.

I took a brief stop on Sunday to capture that Brooklyn Scene, the neighborhood changes, the people, the vibe, the fashion! By Train this is the C train to Lafayette Stop: A good destination for an evening stroll. It’s also one of the neighborhoods we’ll be bringing some segments of BFGLive.-

At Vanderbilt and Fulton, Raif Atelier was open…on a Sunday. That was strange enough to draw a second look. Which was when I noticed that his traditional bias cut dresses, which beautifully drape the local physique were now also painted? Late for the tri- state computer fair at Polytechnic on Jay Street I did not stop, But I promise That we will bring our unique take on Raif in the coming months.

With the closure of 4w Circle of Art and Enterprise, two local businesses are ‘taking up the mission of supporting others. Tribal Truth collection , has a vendors market most Saturdays till summers end, At Courtney Washington’s’ Jacob’s  Eye host an assortment of vendors with their wares.

The regular’s were open, the barber shop, Habana Outpost and the pizza joint, My former hangout Frank’s is now a hardware store, and the former hardware store seem to be getting ready to host a “beer Joint”.  If the streets were packed it was solely the workings of the crew at Cake Man Raven’s celebrating their 9^th annual family and friends appreciation day! When you love what you do it shows and this man loves what he does! There was the usual vendors, performers and line for “Red Velvet” cake. It’s often times that way here at the gallery, a constant procession of fashion and style images, each in their own context believing they are “new” and innovative; different as such from their neighbor, after more than a decade in Brooklyn very little peaks my interest. So when something different comes up we notice it as we have with the changes in Fort Green ‘s Bogolan community, Manhattan may be shades of grey,  Brooklyn is full of color it’s a mix of urban jungle, eclectic cultures and eccentric personalities.

We’re giving away clothing and offering other rewards and incentives! WHY? We always do It’s part of our consumer outreach  program, As a desiigner I am a stickler for fit and we test our silhouettes on all body shapes and sizes!, even the pictures show the difference!

Shopping is just as much about the experience as it is about the purchase!  When we curate our show and sales we take the time to ensure that the artist are among the bests. Their product is not only unique but well made and we demand the highest level of creativity!

We hold workshops, seminars and we’re busy sourcing,  and finding solutions1 In order to provide you with the best products we need your input. Our focus groups are fun and rewarding. This rounds our top priority is clarifying the measurements our designers work with.

Yes we want to measure every potential customer:- whether or not you buy from  us! So we’re offerinng an incentive each week one of the designers in the collective will offer an item. No purchase necessary. The only catch you musts be have phsiically attennded the day of the drawinng ( you do not have to be present at the drawing.)  The item will be custom fitted to the winner’s measurement. To register for participation you’ll need to register with our BFG LIVE Group in Atogunared. If you Live outside New York but will be visiiting then attend one of those sessions!

On the spur of the moment I decided to redesign The  Brooklyn Fashion Gallery Site. We were a bit attached to it, however our main concern was the potential loss of info. I just did not want the hassle of moving to the old site to a new host. So we found a work around…

We had  known for a while that it was inevitable as one of the first fashion sites in 2005/6  we were due for a change! In preparation we had started archiving  by running search queries on the way back machine! Your should still be able to access content  on site up to January 2009. It is remarkable that this can be, done including images!

What we are  has now changed… our keywords no lonnger apply, not in the same manner.  II am excited at the possibilities but cannot yet  reveal  them!
