2008 Rooftop Films Summer Series
Rooftop Films is now accepting shorts submissions for their 2008 summer festival. Download the PDF submission form or submit via Without a Box. The first deadline for submission is January 5 and costs $8. The second submission deadline is February 2 and costs $12. The third "late" deadline is March 1 and costs $15. For details click here.

Third World Newsreel: 2008 Film and Video Production Workshop
The TWN Film and Video production workshop provides practical skills and resources for emerging film and video makers. The workshop trains and supports people of color from low-income communities. In addition to the regular Thursday evening meetings, participants are also required to attend the Wednesday Workshop Series (Production Workshop members do not have to pay for the Wednesday Workshop Series). Bronx Council on the Arts: BRIO
In its nineteenth year, BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) continues to support the artistic development of individuals creating works of literary, media, performing, and visual arts. This year marks an increase in the awards program which will provide a minimum of 25 BRIO grants of $3,000 each to individual artists residing in the Bronx at the BRIO Awards ceremony in June 2008. As 2008 Rolls around BFG Renews its commitment toshowcasing the business of fashion art and lifstyle design. Sadly we there has been a lack of the traditional level of creativity and fashion forward attitude that is indicative of Brooklyn Style. So we're back to spotlighting Workshop seminars and trade events related to fashion and lifestyle!
The Print and Textile sourcing Shows will be held January 15, 16 and 17, 2008, at the Hotel Pennsylvania’s The Hotel Pennsylvania is located at 401 Seventh Avenue between 32nd and 33rd streets. highlighting Spring 2009 These are Free Admission / Trade Only
Two major shows are sheduled on two separate floors. Textile and surface design studios and agents from England, France, Italy, Spain, Australia and the U.S.A. are featured each season at the Shows. Brooklyn Designers place production as one of their major needs. Individually each organization will eventually decide how he or she persues this solution. however as a group our policies should champion the rights of workers. Sweat shop labor, Child and prison labor as a solution should be reviewed carefully! On the other hand the deveoplment of industry and the creation of employment opportunites, is not a Social mandate as much as it is good political and economic policy!
Many have sought solutions that would help them in their selection of production facilities. I came acrooss some resource, while researching another topic! Though By no means complete it is a start ! Click the read more link for details
