As many in Brooklyn wake up to the potential
wealth of Brooklyn’s Fashion Industry, VBAS is ahead of
the game, unlike many however, the organizers have chosen to work with Brooklyn
designers in assessing their particular needs. While event organizers hope that
direct to consumer sales opportunities will increased with the expected crowd
overflow from the two nightly Gospel concerts, the event is best suited to
designers ready for retail or mass distribution: not only just in terms of a
product line, but with, sourcing, production and financing lined up! To aid in
this area special emphasis will be placed on the subject of business funding
and financing.
Brooklyn Fashion Gallery recognizes that many local design businesses,
however, may be interested in other means of distribution, and exploring
different business models. The seminars segment this years looks at developing
changes and emerging trends. Last years VBAS participant Barbara Garnes of SoHe
Designs speaks on her journey since last years show. Sponsors Macy’s have committed
to having buyers attend on both days, and organizers have stepped up their efforts
to identify Boutique Buyers.
Yes, there are challenges, but all concerned are committed
to a “Vision, beyond a Season”
