A Fashion Week is designated period when designers choose to showcase their lines primarily to press and major buyers. Market Week gives labels and opportunity to show to store and boutique buyers. However grouping shows into a particular block of time in a particular area allows for effective marketing and allows buyers the best opportunity to preview and shop. By and large market week for many labels have proven to be the more effective platform for design companies from a financial point of view.

Since we began the Artist Mosaic program in 2003 and all subsequent components, participating designers have asked for a Brooklyn Fashion Week! In 2004 and again in 2005, we committed to being an active part of this movement! In 2005 we bought and held the domain name in trust for Brooklyn designers. During the last two years we have had repeated calls for a Brooklyn Fashion Week! After discussions with several Brooklyn designers, we will activate www.brooklynfashionweeek.com. and launch yet another phase in our program!
We are however mindful of the unique features of Brooklyn Fashion Sector! Brooklyn designers have a shorter turn around period than traditional fashion industry. They treasure their direct to consumer positioning and regularly host in house shows and sales. While boutique and greater market interest has led to some designers presenting previews/directional presentations. Collections are by and large immediate and/or seasonal.
Added to that the fact that the technology we envisioned at the start of our project in 2004, not only exists today, but is available to us and Indie designers and has enabled us to reach a broader audience!
Creativity, Community and Collaboration = Commerce! Brooklyn Fashion Week will be a marketing collective of all participating designers.
At the core though Brooklyn Designers are Independent Entrepreneurs- thus they need to be responsible for the presentation of their lines! Our consumers decide what sells and ultimately what becomes trends and who survives! Participation is open to all who qualify- for details please sign up to our creativce Enterprise network.
