Fashion Cares Marks
21st Year with Exciting Innovations
Toronto, November 1, 2006 - Fashion Cares, the premiere benefit for HIV/AIDS in support of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), is getting ready to take the stage for 2007. Building on 20 years of Fashion Cares heritage, the 2007 showcase event is evolving with a new venue, date and executive producer, and will be more provocative than ever.
Fashion Cares will be held on May 12, 2007 at the Distillery Historic District. One of the hippest locales in Toronto, The Distillery offers a unique environment to deliver a memorable evening to guests that includes a gourmet dinner in an intimate setting, an extravagant show, fabulous shopping opportunities through the boutique and live auction, as well as other surprises.
"Fashion Cares will be newly expressed in 2007, but will continue to build on its roots as a one-of-a-kind experience that blends top-notch entertainment, fashion, and a sexy, glamorous ambience," says Rose Mastnak, Chair, Fashion Cares 2007.
The event will be under the creative direction of noted producer Chip Quigley, president of Kingdom Entertainment. Quigley, a respected entertainment professional for more than 30 years, has co-produced events for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AMFAR), The City of Hope benefit, and The Elton John AIDS Foundation official Fashion Rocks pre-party. He has also produced the International Emmy Awards, Conan O'Brien in Toronto and Chicago, and Conde Nast's "Fashion Rocks" TV special on CBS.
"As well as setting the standard for creative entertainment, Fashion Cares is an unparalleled opportunity for sponsors to come together with the public to support ACT's programs and outreach," says Kevin Hartley, Director of Marketing and Development, AIDS Committee of Toronto.
The fundraising goal for Fashion Cares 2007 is one million dollars. Gala and General Admission tickets, including an After Party at a yet-to-be announced venue outside of the Distillery Historic District, will be limited to 3500. Additional tickets for those wishing to attend only the After Party will also be offered. Tickets will be made available to the public in mid-April, 2007.
"The support we continue to receive from long-standing partners, as well as new patrons, speaks to the relevance of Fashion Cares and what it represents to ACT and to HIV/AIDS," says Hartley.
"We encourage anyone interested in Fashion Cares to stay tuned to our Web site, www.fashioncares.com . In the weeks and months ahead, we will have news and information to share," adds Mastnak. People can also sign up for insider updates on the Web site.
The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) delivers responsive, effective, and valued community-based HIV support services and education, prevention, outreach and fundraising programs that promote the health, well-being, worth and rights of individuals and communities living with, affected by and at risk for HIV/AIDS, and increase awareness of HIV/AIDS.
Fashion Cares is an annual gala in support of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), with the goal of building awareness of HIV/AIDS and raising funds for ACT. In the past, over 5,000 people have attended the event each year and more than 1,000 people have volunteered. Over the past 20 years, Fashion Cares has raised nearly ten million dollars to benefit ACT and is the largest volunteer event in the world.
