While not quite an Applet. The Way back Machine is a collection of 85 billion web pages archived from 1996 to a few months ago. It is a great source for info where the web site no longer exist. I've used it to back up my website. simply visit the site and search for the website you wish to archive. if the page is not archived. and is still available on the Internet, they will begin archiving it during their next crawl. I periodically check to keep updates regular. I've used this to recover lost photos and even a video lost when a client website went down! I also use it to check info on businesses that have closed their doors. The site tends to be page specific for certain web publishing software so checking for specific pages helps.
